I think I'm the only person in the world who didn't notice the giveaway in the title...I was totally surprised by the ending.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion that for someone looking for a viable way to make some extra cash that this is pretty much a waste of time. I mean--it WILL get you extra money, but at far less than you would make even minimum wage.

And it's not like you're a slouch at performing these kinds of tasks, either. Good to have some real-world experience for context on the usefulness of this as a money-making opportunity.

As a concept, though, of distributed workforce, it's still very intriguing.

As you know, I am on a tight tight budget - and could not afford to buy a stupid $70 dvd set that I wanted very badly. And so I went to Mechanical Turk and provided varous services, mostly typing addresses into html forms, based on street-view pictures for Amazon's A9 street view service.

I also helped with the Jim Gray project, but he was never found.

So I probably worked 20-30 or so hours for $70 dvd set. I am never doing that again.

The $70 dvd set was: Director's Label Series Boxed Set (Mark Romanek, Jonathan Glazer, Anton Corbijn, Stéphane Sednaoui) (2005)
